Buck Island and Capella Island are two small uninhabited islands four miles south of Charlotte Amalie and part of the Buck Island National Wildlife Refuge. It is a popular sanctuary for sea turtles and often toured by catamaran and sail boats. You can find a large area of grassland and cactuses with a lighthouse on the northeast end of Buck Island. As you might spot a manta ray or several large turtles, one shouldn't expect vibrant colorful coral reefs crowded in fish. It is often mistaken with the Buck Island Reef National Monument just north of St Croix.
